When operating on soil, gravel, sand, snow, wet ground, or in quarry conditions, wheel slip, sliding, and changes in surface traction can occur. As a result, onboard systems may receive incorrect speed data.
For agricultural machinery, this affects the accuracy of seeding, fertilizing, and applying crop protection products. For quarry, mining, and industrial machinery, it affects motion control, safety, productivity, and the operation of automated systems.
Machines need a sensor that measures not calculated speed, but the actual ground speed — regardless of wheel condition, load, surface type, and operating conditions.
